The Bible says that the temple curtains were cut into two, signifying that we got a ticket to God, which was only reserved for the priests. Learn how God Speak and talk to us, as we learn to talk to Him.

Learning how to pray effective prayers doesn’t mean that we have to pray only in church or at a specific place and time. You can talk to God in your car, in the washroom, when on a walk, and in any location that we feel we need to talk to God. Though Christians should have a time in their day when they can exclusively speak to God, we are not limited to that place and time. Here are some of the tips on how to pray effective prayers.

1. Approach God with Humility

We know the story of the Pharisee and the tax collector when they were praying in the temple. The Pharisee approached God with pride while the tax collector approached God with humility? Which one of them do you think was aware of how to pray effective prayers? One thing about Christians is that we are all sinners.

In one way or another, we have failed in God’s eyes knowingly or unknowingly. It is just but by the grace of God that we live and are associated with Him. As you approach God in His Holiness, you must put on a humble spirit. He is the owner of the universe and everything in it. He knows us and our deepest secrets. Approach God with reverence and humility, and He will exalt you.

2. Be Intentional in Your Prayers.

Do you want to know how to pray effective prayers? Approach God with intentionality. What do you want God to give you? Why do you like it? Intentionality and clarity are some of the things that open our lives to success in whatever we pursue, and it is no different from praying effective and successful prayers. Know what to ask from God and why you need it. God doesn’t just give us what we want; He gives us what we need. God will not provide you with something because you want to use it to harm others, brag to others, and belittle others. Whatever God gives you should be used as a blessing and service to others.

However, this doesn’t mean that we should not go to God with just anything bothering us. Just because God has millions of hungry people to look after doesn’t mean He will ignore what seems like a none issue but an important aspect of your life done. He is a God of us all.

Be sure of what you want from God, don’t pray for this today, and then change in the other minute. Sometimes we unknowingly confuse God.

3. Pray with Faith and Affirmations.

Faith is the backbone of a Christian’s life. Faith is the major point when it comes to knowing how to pray effective prayers. The word of God tells us that we should already believe that we already have what we are praying for even as we ask God for it. The book of James Chapter 1 warns us against praying when we have doubts in our hearts. Remember, faith can move mountains, and it is important that we pray faith-filled prayers.

We have all heard or come across the word affirmation as we go about our daily lives. Daily affirmations show what we believe we are capable of achieving and what we deserve in life. As a Christians, the best place to get your affirmations is in the Bible. The Bible has outlined so many promises that we can quote when praying and making our requests known to God. Effective Bible study methods to derive God’s promises.

4. Give Thanks in Your Prayers.

Gratitude is what unlocks blessings. The word of God tells us not to worry about anything but, with thanksgiving, make our requests known to God. A grateful and content heart is a sacred heart. It is common to get caught up with what we want at the moment and forget the things God has done in our lives. Spiritual maturity is when we can recognize what God has done in our lives, and we can praise and worship Him and even thank Him when things are not going as we wish.

I wish all of us understood how important thanksgiving is and how it is a tool to pray effective prayers.

5. Be Consistent in Your Prayers.

Consistency is key when it comes to an understanding of how to pray effective prayers. Be consistent in your prayers. Pray without ceasing. Never give up in your prayers. God makes us wait for a reason. He makes us wait as He prepares the bigger and better things in life. As long as what you are praying for is in alignment with God’s heart and will, even if it takes long, He will eventually grant it to us according to His riches in Heaven.

Like any other thing that we pursue in life, prayers require us to implement an effective prayer strategy to see the answers. How do we pray? Jesus taught His disciples to make a short general prayer that most people include in their prayers. We can also follow the ACTS formula, i.e., Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. The first two touches on humility, thanksgiving on its own, and then supplication are where we make our petitions known to God. As we pray for ourselves, we must pray for others. One thing that I have come to realize as a Christian is that prayer never fails.
