Are you wondering what to read next? I’ll share with you the top 5 impactful books to read that have impacted my life as well as more. Self-development is an important area in my life and it should be for everyone. Having impactful books to read is a great strategy for self-development. Whether you are reading motivational books, memoirs, fiction, or any type of book, I believe it will contribute to your intellectual growth.

I love reading books. I try to read a book every week or in two weeks, depending on the length. Reading a book is part of my morning routine. Among the many books I have read, I’ll pick five of the most impactful books to read. The list is in no particular order.

  1. You are a badass. How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life. (Jen Sincero).

This impactful book to read will lead you out of the fear to try out new things. Jen Sincero unleashes our potential to aspire and do great things. She calls us to be brave and confident. She challenges us to live the life that is meant for us.

My favorite take from the book is that we need people who are creative and smart, radiate love and abundance, happy and feel loved, and importantly living large and purposeful lives.

The book brings insights into all areas of our lives, from spiritual to financial empowerment. The book allows us to ask ourselves the most important questions in our lives as well as give meaningful and important life hacks.

I love how the author reminds us at the end of every chapter, among other things, to love ourselves and why it is important. For instance, love yourself it is the Holy Grail of happiness. It is one of the most impactful books to read regardless of who you are in life.

2. The purpose-driven life. What on earth am I here for? Rick Warren.

Life’s biggest question is, what am I supposed to do with my time while I am here? What value can I add to myself and those around me? I am a great believer in purpose and calling. Most of us go through life having not answered the most important question, what am I supposed to accomplish and achieve while on this earth.

According to Rick Warren, you were created by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense. I agree with that. Without a purpose in life, you will just be wondering in life aimlessly.

Finding your purpose is a journey. The book will guide you towards finding your unique assignment on this earth. The author will help you understand what a life purpose statement is. He guides you through life’s five greatest questions.

To everyone who looks to know their purpose-driven life and live a purpose-driven life, this is one of the most impactful books to read. How to figure out your purpose at a young age.

3. The gifts of imperfection. Let go of who you think you are supposed to be and embrace who you are. Brene Brown.

Given the times we are living in, everyone needs to read this incredible book. With available platforms for comparison, increased cases of depression and anxiety, this is a book that would help a lot of people. The book caters to a person’s mental health needs.

The book is about owning who we are and loving who we are. She boldly talks about courage, compassion, and connection when it comes to who we are.  Self-acceptance and self-love is a critical area in modern-day life, especially among the millennials.

I love the author’s definition of wholeheartedness, love belonging, and authenticity. The book helped in my healing and I believe it would do so to everyone else who read it.

4. The choice. Embrace the possible. Edith Edgar.

Edith Edgar is a holocaust survivor. She lost her parents during Hitler’s persecution to the gas chambers. If you have read about the Jewish persecution, then you are familiar with the sad tale of what happened to most people.

Listening to her narrate the events and her journey in the book is sad but inspiring. Her story of pain and healing is wonderful.

We all love people who rise from despair. Reading the book, you’ll understand that your pain is relevant but not compared to probably what some people have gone through.

Her sentiments are simple yet deep if you read the entire book. That we have a choice. To pay attention to what we have or pay attention to what we have lost. My synopsis will not do any justice to the incredibility of this book, so read it yourself. It another of the most impactful books to read.

5. Eat, pray, love. Elizabeth Gilbert.

Another of the most impactful books to read is these great piece. Elizabeth Gilbert takes us through her story of divorce and unhappiness to healing and becoming happy again. I read this book in three days, the fastest I have finished reading a book. The author takes us from the U.S.A, the genesis of her depression and unhappiness, to an interesting and insightful journey across three countries in pursuit of healing and happiness.

She ate pasta in Italy, did a spiritual awakening in India, and found love in Bali. The book teaches us to recognize pain, accept it and whatever it costs us, take on the journey to heal and find true happiness. It is a great read for everyone.

The above books are just but a few of my favorite books. Other impactful books to read that I have read are;

  • Think and grow rich- Napoleon Hill.
  • How to avoid worry and start living- Dale Carnegie.
  • The richest man in Babylon- George Samuel Clason.
  • The art of work- Jeff Goins.
  • Listen to your life speak- Parker Palmer.
  • Growing Up, Spiritually- Kenneth E. Hagin.
